Casa Turrent. Mexico has long been synonymous with value for money cigars. However , these cigars, while still offering exceptional value are a huge step up in quality and stand toe to with the finest cigars to be found anywhere today.
It was my great privilege to recently visit the Casa Turrent factory in San Andrés Mexico , the standards and attention to detail were exceptional, the cigars are magnificent. I hope you enjoy them as much as I have!
Alejandro Turrent is proud of the Mexican tobacco industry’s progress, blending tradition with innovation: The new series sports tobacco cured with a new technique developed by Turrent, “tabaco quemado de troja” (pilón burnt tobacco).
“We had quite a lot of tobacco bales that reached temperatures too high in the bales,” Turrent explains. “We didn’t throw that tobacco away but kept it. We realised that the first tobaccos getting burnt in the bales were the leaves of the highest quality – because they have more essential oils. So we started experimenting with that tobacco. Some didn’t work out, but with a lot of those leaves we got very nice results. They turned out a bit spicy, like young tobacco, but also a bit sweet like aged tobacco”.
